Spring Break

In our family, we have a long and beloved tradition (2 years now!) of going on a "local" vacation during Spring Break. Sam takes 2 or 3 days off work and we call it a vacation, spending the days at local attractions and the nights at home, watching movies and staying up late..er than normal. This year we hit the Children's Museum (Discovery Gateway), Hogle Zoo, and the Aquarium exhibit. What a whirlwind! Each day was full and very fun. The weather cooperated better than last year (when we had snow), and although it was quite windy, it was warm (woo-hoo!) The best part of our tradition is how much the kids enjoy it. The places we go are fun, but it's the little things that make it great. During "spring break" we can do just about anything and they are pretty sure it's the best and most wonderful thing ever. For instance, this morning we made "Mickey Mouse" pancakes and let them put the faces on them. When we announced the night before that this was our plan, Grace spent a full 20 seconds with her mouth open and declared that "this is the best day of my life!" Movie night two nights in a row, ice cream in the living room, cinnamon rolls for breakfast...yeah, they love spring break. Here are a few pictures from our adventures...
